Why Odds are in Favor of Pacquiao on Pacquiao vs Cotto Fight

The Manny Pacquiao Hype is really on, millions and millions of fans around the world await the much anticipated fight of two boxing warriors this November.

Manny Pacquiao 30, the six time world champion pound per pound king will be fighting with the 28 year old three time world champion and the holder of the welterweight title Miguel Cotto. The Big fight will be held this November 14, 2009 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada via HBO PPV.

Freddie Roach, Manny’s long time trainer and friend predicts that Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao will flatten Miguel Cotto on the ninth round. All the talk about Cotto being heavier stronger and more powerful does not affect the coach and Manny at all. They hear these opinions all the time; he says that size does not dictate the outcome of the fight. Previous fights won over by Pacquiao also sported such excuses. People talked about Oscar De La Hoya being too big for Manny, or Ricky Hatton being stronger but they all landed defeat against the pound per pound king Manny Pacquiao.

Manny says he feels good and so far the training has been perfect. Less than two weeks into the fight. Manny says that they are now gearing into mental preparations while slowing down on the physical preparations after a 100 or so sparring sessions he had the past weeks. Team Pacquiao worked on Manny’s speed to even out whatever benefit Miguel Cotto has with his punching power.

Many Pacquiao is eyeing his seventh world title aiming to win titles in all weight divisions. Miguel Cotto is a 147 lb title holder and for this fight, Pacquiao asked Cotto to drop his weight until 143 lbs. However the Puerto Rican Boxer declined and they reached a consensus that he will drop down until 145 lbs.

Cotto may be bigger, taller and oozing with power but so are Manny’s other beaten contenders. Roach said, it’s not height or strength that bags fights, it’s the ability to win it and Manny Pacquiao has the ability.
